Meet Dyanamaria, a two year veteran of E3. Born and Raised in the O.C. she has gone from a "supernerd" in highschool to modelling at the worlds largest entertainment expo. I had a chance to speak with her briefly at the conference and she pleasantly accepted our interview.

Q. Tell us a little about yourself - where did you grow up?

A.I was born and raised in Orange County, CA. I'm a first generation American. My parents both emigrated from their countries to the USA.
My entire dad's side of the family still lives in Iceland and my entire mom's side of the family still lives in Colombia. I was raised with my younger brother with my parents both working hard for the American dream.

Q. How would you describe yourself growing up?

A. I was/am a Supernerd! I skipped a grade in elementary school, so I was about two years younger than everyone else in my class. In Jr. High I was teased relentlessly. I was so awkward with my daddy long legs and no chest. Thank goodness my family really supported me and I made it out of there pretty normal and went into High School and fully embraced my nerdy tendencies. I was on the Honor Roll, sang in the Choir and took Latin as my foreign language. I was still by no means one of the "cool kids." I never had a boyfriend and didn't have my first kiss until well after graduation - but I ended up making some of the most valuable friendships of my life out of the bandos, the choir geeks and book nerds.

Q. Did you always want to be a model? How did you first get into modelling?

A. I was scouted at 16 and did some modeling for a while but it became difficult during my Senior year. I wanted to go to college so I stopped modeling altogether to get a full time job and pay for my education at Chapman University. Once I got my degree, I kind of just fell back into it. I worked with a photographer – John Eckert – on some retro pin up work and from there managed to get the ball rolling.
Modeling is still more of a hobby for me than a career, but I enjoy it so much!

Q. What do you enjoy most about modeling?

A. My personal favorite type of work is the retro pin up modeling – I enjoy the creativity and art behind it. Outside of that, I like any work that gets me out and working with people – like E3. I would never meet most of those people in my daily life. It's such an interesting opportunity.

Q. How many years have you been an E3 model and what characters / companies have you represented?

A. I've worked E3 twice – my first year was for nYko Technologies and this year I worked for WebZen.

Q. How did this year differ from last, did you find the experience enjoyable are you hoping to return for another year?

A. I enjoyed both and I would definitely want to work E3 again – as a matter of fact, I never book anything else the week of E3 because I do enjoy it so much. Since there were so many girls working for nYko last year, I actually had the opportunity to walk around a lot and check out all the cool booths. This year, working for WebZen, I was the only Huxley Girl character on the floor so the demand was a bit greater and I couldn't check out any of the other booths. Still, I ended up having more personal interaction and I worked more closely with the WebZen team. It ended up being a lot of fun in that booth.

Q. Describe (briefly) a typical day for you at E3.

A. Since I drove up from Orange County, I was up at 4:30am and I'd leave my house at 6:00am with my full hair and make up done and would arrive at the convention center around 7:15. I brought a book with me and I sat in Kentia hall outside of the WebZen costume room until my call at 8. It would take about a half hour to get totally dressed after which we were taken up to South Hall. Because our costumes were so heavy, we had 20 minute breaks every hour – which helped, but didn't prevent us from getting beat up by our costumes. I had bruises on the backs of my legs from the boots and under my arms from my gun. Luckily my shoes were flat and not high heels, so my feet were not numb like they were after last year's E3 with nYko's red boots. When the show was over at 6pm, we were released and I drove home, showered and crawled into bed exhausted from a 2 hour drive in traffic and fell asleep… only to do the same thing again the next morning.
